Class 3 Church Visit Spring Term 2008
Class 3’s RE topic is Milestones in Life. The children have been learning about special events celebrated in church – baptism, confirmation/communion and weddings. The children met Rev Norris in the church and she explained that each special event began with the lighting of the paschal candle.
The children were shown the font which was 800 years old. Water is put into a bowl inside the font as it leaks. Warm water is used to make it more comfortable for the baby being baptised.
Every child had a close look at the font and Rev Norris read some of the names of children who had been baptised in the church from the baptism book.
